BUFFALO, N.Y. — Wegmans plans to expand services in Buffalo's Black Rock neighborhood, but businesses in that area say they want their feedback considered first.

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Wegmans told YNN the chain wants to expand its Amherst Street location by turning 15,000 square feet of green space in front of the store into a retail building.

Business owners in the area have reviewed the proposal. and while they say they welcome the idea of new tenants, they don't think the design of the building fits the authentic feel of the neighborhood.

"Just the design of the building that they showed us, it looks like a suburban, strip mall building. But this isn't a suburban area. This is an urban city block," said Greg Rohall, Rohall's Corner owner.

Building plans will be given to the city's planning board February 8th.
