Woman Convicted in City's First Homicide of 2011
A jury convicted a Rochester woman Monday afternoon in connection with Rochester's first homicide of 2011.
Nancy James was convicted of first degree manslaughter and second degree assault.
The assault conviction was for the stabbing of a woman on New Year's Eve on St. Paul Street. That's when 46-year old James Singleton tried to break up the fight.
Using a shard of glass, James stabbed Singleton in the leg. His artery damaged, Singleton later died at the hospital.
Nancy James will be sentenced September 13. She faces up to 25 years in prison for the manslaughter conviction.
